Cellular Mechanisms Involved in Cerebellar Microzonation

چکیده

In the last 50 years, our vision of cerebellum has vastly evolved starting with Voogd’s (1967) description extracerebellar projections’ terminations and how projection maps transformed presumptive homogeneity cerebellar cortex into a more complex center subdivided transverse longitudinal distinct functional zones. The picture became still Richard Hawkes colleagues’ (Gravel et al., 1987) discovery biochemical heterogeneity Purkinje cells (PCs), by screening their molecular identities monoclonal antibodies. Antigens were expressed in parasagittal pattern subsets PCs either possessing or lacking respective antigens, which divided precise compartments that are congruent maps. correlation these two adult shows perfect matching developmental mechanisms. This review discusses series arguments favor essential role played organizing microzonation during development (the “matching” hypothesis).

Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms Involved in Neuroinflammation after Acute Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury

Introduction: Spinal cord injury (SCI) following traumatic events is associated with the limited therapeutic options and sever complications, which can be partly due to inflammatory response. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role of inflammation in spinal cord injury. The findings showed that the pathological conditions of nervous system lead to activation of microglia, astrocyte, neut...

Mechanisms involved in cellular ceramide homeostasis

Sphingolipids are ubiquitous and critical components of biological membranes. Their biosynthesis starts with soluble precursors in the endoplasmic reticulum and culminates in the Golgi complex and plasma membrane. Ceramides are important intermediates in the biosynthesis of sphingolipids, such as sphingomyelin, and their overload in the membranes is injurious to cells. The major product of cera...

Cerebellar circuits and synaptic mechanisms involved in classical eyeblink conditioning.

There is increasing evidence that, in addition to its major functional role in the regulation of fine motor control, the cerebellum is involved in other important functions, such as sensory-motor learning and memory. Classical conditioning of the eyeblink or nictitating membrane response (and other discrete behavioral responses) is a form of sensory-motor learning that depends crucially upon th...

Molecular mechanisms involved in multidrug resistance in breast cancer therapy

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in women. Chemotherapy is the main strategy in the treatment of this disease especially in the advanced form of the disease. Despite the recent progress in the development of new chemotherapy, the effectiveness of these drugs has dramatically reduced due to multidrug resistance. The phenotype of multidrug resistance (MDR) can occur through different me...

O-8: Molecular Mechanisms of Membrane Fusion Involved in Fertilization

Background: Assisted fertilization procedures are a currently widespread practice to regulate reproduction in humans and animals. The arising question is why the human being manipulating gametes to generate new individuals, if we do not understand yet the molecular mechanism of fertilization?. Successful completion of fertilization in mammals is dependent on three membrane fusion events: 1. the...
